Google’s two-step opt-out of cookie tracking under the Privacy Sandbox Initiative

The source – blog.google

The Privacy Sandbox Initiative seeks to create tools that benefit advertisers while keeping users anonymous. In addition to rejecting third-party cookies by 2023, Google plans to combat hidden tracking, such as fingerprinting from devices, as part of the initiative.

As for the refusal to track cookies itself, there are two stages:

  1. In late 2022, after testing and launching APIs in Chrome, publishers and the ad industry will make changes to the services. The stage is expected to be 9 months long and Google will be monitoring the implementation of the APIs.
  1. In mid-2023, within 3 months, Chrome will end support for third-party cookies, and a complete rejection of cookies is planned for the end of this year.
