Merchant Center’s misrepresentation advertising policy will add two sections

Google Merchant Center will add two new subsections to the "Misrepresentation" section of its advertising policy: 

  • a ban on ads that may harm health and contain statements contrary to scientific opinion; 
  • a ban on falsehoods that diminish the credibility and willingness to participate in elections.

Right now, the subsection prohibiting the promotion of products harmful to health is part of the "Inappropriate Content" section. But it will soon be combined with a subsection banning the promotion of things that are contrary to scientific opinion. 

In addition, there will be a new ban on falsehoods in advertising that diminish the credibility and willingness to participate in elections and other democratic processes.
