WhatsApp has begun testing an extended file size limit that users can send to each other. Messenger will increase it from 100 MB to 2 GB.
In the future, this may make the messenger another convenient means of exchanging large files that are transmitted using end-to-end encryption.
Prior to this, WhatsApp allowed you to share files up to 100 MB in size. A similar ability to transfer large files has already been working in Telegram since 2020.
