Instagram will double down on video in 2022

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri posted a short video before the New Year in which he shared the service's plans for 2022. For instance, he noted that he will have to rethink what Instagram is because the world is changing rapidly. 

According to Mosseri, Instagram plans to double down on video and Reels next year. The service will continue to evolve this format by bundling all video products around Reels.

The service will also introduce more monetization tools for content creators. Messaging and transparency will be a priority for the company. 

So, in 2022 the main focus for Instagram will be: 

  • video; 
  • messaging; 
  • transparency; 
  • creators. 

Another important change will be the return of the timeline to the social network.
