The source – blog.google
Google will begin to aggregate and show the user useful information about the websites he or she has chosen to visit. The company announced this at the annual conference for developers Google I/O 2022.
Right now, Google Search has an "About this result" feature. By clicking on this item in the menu next to the search result, the user can learn more about the website before visiting it. The tool is available in English and has been visited more than 1.6 billion times.
Specifically, Google shows:
- a description of the site;
- when it was first indexed;
- whether the connection to the site is secure;
- whether it's organic or advertising.
Now the company has announced that it wants to provide its users with tools for evaluating information wherever they are on the Internet – not only on the search results page, but also when they go to a selected page.
Soon, when browsing any site in the Google app, users will be able to see an "About the source" tab with all the information available about the source. This includes a brief description and feedback from other users on the Internet.
The information about the resource collected in this tab will allow users to make informed choices about the information on the sites.
