Google Ads has expanded the reach of Exact Match ads. Now ads with this setting are shown for more requests.
The updated Google Ads Help now describes the exact keyword match type as follows:
Ads can appear for search terms that have the same meaning or intent as the keyword. Of the three keyword matching options, Exact Match gives you the most control over who will see your ad.
An exact match is indicated by parentheses, for example [red shoe]. Below is an example of how exact match would work:
