More than 1.5 billion people watch YouTube Shorts every month.
For comparison: the audience of TikTok in March 2022 reached 1.6 billion users. A similar Reels service on Instagram has gathered an audience of 2 billion active users.
This year, YouTube plans to continue paying through the Shorts Fund, as well as offer authors additional options for earning short videos. In the coming months, the service will begin testing the ability to create branded Shorts through the BrandConnect program.
Shorts will also support superchats that already work for regular videos. They viewers will be able to buy selected messages. In addition YouTube has begun testing the possibility of shopping directly from Shorts.
