Google Business Profiles has updated its help documentation on how to validate your company. There's a new paragraph in the guide. It informs that Google may require a company to do additional verification using a different validation method:
This could lead to a "more rigorous verification process" and thus "reduce the number of fake locations on Google Maps".
Current verification methods for Company Profiles include:
- a phone call;
- sending a text message;
- email;
- video recording;
- live video call;
- a postcard with a unique verification code.
Western experts advise businesses to treat their Google Profile like a website: optimize the page, update opening hours, provide more relevant information, respond to feedback, etc.
