Promoting content with inaccurate information about climate change is banned by Google Ads

Google's new policy will ban the promotion of content that denies climate change or reports misleading information about it. The Google Ads Rule Center says the changes will take effect Dec. 6, 2021.

The content being promoted must not contradict the established scientific consensus on the fact of climate change and its causes. The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is an authoritative source of correct information.

Google will evaluate content by a combination of automatic moderation and human review. A violation will not result in an immediate blocking of the account, but the advertiser will receive a warning, at least 7 days before the blocking.
