"Hi Google Ads users,
If you’ve seen a Google Ads advertisement that you think may not comply with Google Ads policies, this post will give you the resources to report that to us.
Ads in our program are reviewed according to our advertising guidelines. While we make every effort to ensure that ads which may violate our policies do not run prior to review, some ads may run on Google before our Google Ads Specialists check them.
In order to report an ad, you can fill out this form, which is also available directly from the ad.
The form will ask you some basic questions about the ad, and it will also ask you to provide the click string of the ad so that our teams can properly investigate. If you access the form directly from an ad, it will populate the clickstream for you.
Please read the following steps for more details on reporting an ad.
For a Search Ad, i.e. Ad found on a Google search result page:
Click on the drop down button next to a Search ad.
- Click on “Why this ad?”
- Click on “Report this ad”
- You will be redirected to the "Report an ad" form, and the clickstring will be automatically populated. Fill in the other relevant fields and submit.
- If you choose to access the form directly, you will need to find and copy the clickstream yourself, using the following steps:
For a Youtube Ad, i.e. Ad found on a Youtube Page:
- Identify the ad which you want to report. Then click on the "i" icon of the ad in the bottom left corner.
- Click on “Report this Ad”

- You will be redirected to the "Report an ad" form. The clickstring will be automatically populated. Fill in the other relevant fields and submit.
- Please note for YouTube Video Ads, the above method is the best way to report this type of ad. If you are reporting a banner ad from Youtube, you can choose to access the form directly, and copy the clickstream yourself, using the following steps:
For other Ads, i.e. Ads found on the Google Display Network:
- Click on the "i" or "x" button display on the ad
- Click on “Why this Ad”
- Click on "Report this Ad"
- You will be redirected to the “Report an ad” form, and the clickstring will be automatically populated. Fill in the other relevant fields and submit.
