According to the updated Terms of Service for video hosting, from June 1, 2021, YouTube will have the right to monetize all materials published on the platform. The terms will apply to all users outside the United States.
The new edition states that:
- any payments from June 1 that the channel owner is entitled to receive from YouTube will be considered royalties. Google will withhold taxes from such payments in accordance with the law;
- The channel owner grants YouTube the right to monetize content - to display ads within the content or charge users for access to it;
- the existing prohibition on the collection of data that allows the identification of the user without his permission applies to photos obtained using the face recognition function.
Thus, advertising can be placed on channels that do not participate in the Affiliate Program.
