URL parameter tool in Search Console will no longer be supported

Google has decided to discontinue support for the URL parameter tool in Search Console after one month. It was launched in 2009 when sites were using GET parameters that didn't change the content of the page. The URL parameters tool helped site owners control how Google crawled their site and indicated how certain parameters affected content.

Now Google knows how to distinguish between useful parameters on a site and not-so-useful ones. Because of the low value of this tool, the company will discontinue support for the URL parameters tool.

To control the data, site owners can use other tools like robots.txt, hreflang.
