Google will step up its review of ads for financial products and services

Google is expanding its verification program as it looks to tackle financial ad fraud.

Now more advertisers from different countries will have to prove that they have the right to promote financial products and services.

Advertisers will need to be verified. The new rules will come into effect on August 30. Advertisers can apply for verification at the end of June. Once the review is launched, there will be another 30 days to complete it.

During the review, advertisers must:

  • answer a series of questions about their business;
  • verify identity;
  • clarify information about their business operations.

Advertisers who do not pass the new verification by August 30 will not be able to advertise financial services using Google Ads.
