Starting in February 2022, Google Play users will begin to see information about what data apps collect. A new Data Safety section will appear on app pages.
Android app developers will be required to provide information about the data they collect until April 2022.
The new Data Safety section will help users understand:
- What types of data the app collects: location, contacts, personal information (name, email), financial information, etc.
- Whether data collection is mandatory to use the app.
- Whether the data is encrypted during transmission.
- Whether the app has been independently verified to a global security standard.
