Google has found ways to control the privacy of data targeting users from the European Union.
This problem was extensively discussed earlier this year, when an Austrian court ruled that Google Analytics was illegal due to the transfer of European users' data to the United States.
To ensure data privacy, the company took the following measures:
- GA4 now receives and processes all data from EU users through domains and servers located in the EU.
- In the account settings Data Settings -> Data Collection, you can now disable Google Signals collection and collection of detailed location, device data for each region.
- GA4 does not collect full IP addresses of EU users (only high-level geodata: country, city, etc.).
