Google Ads is now testing the display of favicons in search ads. The first to respond was a tweet from Internet marketer Darcy Burke, who mistook the favicon for an emoji.
Google Ads spokeswoman Jeannie Marvin emphasized in a reply tweet that it was a favicon, not an emoji. She confirmed that Google Ads is testing favicons as part of a series of experiments.
The favicon is displayed in the ad next to the site address.
