Meta Platforms Inc. has blocked Russian state-run media from advertising and monetizing content on its platform. The notice was published on Twitter by Facebook Security Policy Manager Nathaniel Gleicher.
This restriction applies anywhere in the world. The changes have already begun to be implemented and will continue through the weekend.
Facebook also said that the company's specialists will continue to mark additional Russian state media in social networks. The company created the Center of Special Operations for Real-Time Reaction, which employs experts.
1/ We are now prohibiting Russian state media from running ads or monetizing on our platform anywhere in the world. We also continue to apply labels to additional Russian state media. These changes have already begun rolling out and will continue into the weekend.
