Now webmasters will be able to choose whether to show strings that match or don’t match a regular expression. The new option is available in the drop-down menu that appears after selecting the Custom (regex) option in the filters tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google also gave some advice to users on when it might be useful to use regular expressions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. They are suitable for segmenting users who are familiar with the brand. For example, you can use a regular expression that contains multiple variations of the company name. This will allow you to understand what type of queries each group of users uses and which section of the site attracts them.<\/li>
  2. To analyze traffic on a specific section of the site. For example, you can use a section-specific expression. This way you can determine which queries are common for each content category.<\/li>
  3. Understand the intent of the user. This way you can analyze the types of requests that lead users to different sections of the site.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
