President Redgep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan’s cabinet has submitted a letter to the United Nations Organization officially requesting that the country be called T\u00fcrkiye (tur-key-YAY) as it is spelled and called in Turkish. TRT World, the national English-language television station of Turkey, explained that the country’s former name “generated a lot of endorsements” in Google’s requests<\/strong>. Moreover, the search for the name was inspired by the Cambridge dictionary, where Turkey can be translated as “fool” and “loser”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
